'Ranaviruwo' musical group from Ranaviru sevana arrived to UAE on 18 th of Nov 2008 on
the invitation of His Excellency the Ambassador to UAE, Mr. Janaka Bandara.
Eleven members of the group, all disabled soldiers headed by Lt. Col. Rajitha
Ampemohotti performed in front of a well attended audience over a crowd of 3500 Sri Lankans at the open air
stage show at Wonderland Theme park in Dubai on 21st Nov. The event was a huge success and the audience was
very enthusiastically paid their attention and responded with applause for each and every song.
'Ranaviruwo' showed their courage and appreciated the crowd by entertaining them for nearly six hours.
Many were in tears while seeing the video screened about the brave efforts and courage shown for the
recovery from wounds by our heroic soldiers. It was a great experience for all Sri Lankans living in
Dubai and will be remembered by all in years to come. His Excellency the Ambassador, Mr. Janaka Bandara
was present as the chief guest along with the Consul General in Dubai and Northern Emirates,
Mr. Wasantha Senanayake. The show was organized by the Helabima organization, a charity comprised of Sri Lankans
living in UAE.
The second performance was held in Abudhabi on 26 th Nov. with a houseful crowd at the
Cultural Foundation. The show was organized under the direct supervision of His Excellency the Ambassador
with the support of all Sri Lankans living in Abu Dhabi. Funds raised from both the events will be sent to
Ranaviru sevana to build up required infrastructure for disabled soldiers. 'Ranaviruwo' group concluded a
very successful tour and returned to Sri Lanka on 27 th Nov 2008 leaving an unforgettable memories within
the patriotic Sri Lankans in UAE.
